New her through her brother Steve and his wife Faye. Christie was always so full of life and her smile would light up a room. Well before I met her I was a fan. My younger sister still has her first album. RIP
Today I was working and my favorite song "goosebumps" came on. Had me thinking about the nights i'd come over to babysit Christalea when u were working gigs throughout Bunbury. We loved walking down to the Australind shops to get our dinner, and we loved watching u cooking the best hot chips in Australia.. I had so much fun listening to your music stories & after gig chit chats. Today like every other day I felt blessed to know ur music is still kicking around & fans still get to hear your beautiful voice..
My name is Alexandra and i am 17, but love 70's and 80's music. I'm sorry if this message has already come up, but i'm not sure if it worked.
I only came to know about Christie this year, but from what i've seen on reruns of Countdown and what i've read people say i think she seems like a pretty nice person.
Each year i hold a bingo with my family and we play bingo and have a theme of singer/bands.This year one of them is Christie and we're donating money to the Cancer Council in her name.
I think it's a shame that know one knows more about her, as it is hard to find cds of hers in shops. I have seen some songs of hers on Youtube.
I can't say that i know Christie all that personally, but i can say that i feel sad she has died, and just also want to let her family and friends know that i feel sorry for them.
I was sad to hear of this ladies passing
I had great times dancing to her music (Hes my number one)
to her family keep strong hold tight to your memories
Still, No words can express my great sadness for your passing. The family morals and values you cherished will be with me forever. I miss your beautiful smile, and bubbly personality. And most of all the "mum" in you. I feel at peace knowing i had the opportunity to have you in my life. The wonderful memories in which i'll cherish forever.
Hello Chantel
Just wanted to say thank you for sharing your thoughts and for capturing Christie perfectly on her smile and personality-qualities I loved about her as much as her music.
Christie Allen will always hold a special place in my heart. As a shy 12 & 13 year old, her passionate innocence in Goose Bumps gave me goose bumps, and the disco'd desire & devotion of He's My Number One (which she surely sang about me!?!) was like a triumphant fanfare declaring my entrance to manhood...! Christie you were gorgeous, like most of us I unfortunately lost track of you as we got older. I recently heard of your Mushroom re-union performance in '98, sorry that I didnt get to see it, maybe I still can somewhere, possibly on the net. I'm also intrigued by your settling in country WA and yr excursion into Country and Western music, woulda liked to hear that..Rest in Peace gorgeous and thank you for being spectacularly you, and for warming a young boy's cold heart with yr joy and passion... And I'm still yr No 1....fan...XXX
I too was watching Countdown last night on Rage and was so shocked at the beginning of the episode that it was dedicated to Christie Allen. I had no idea she had even been ill. Sympathy to her family and Christie I am sure you are bopping away up there in your metallic lycra leggings and gorgeous perm. Peace out. P.S. Goosebumps is still a fantastic pop song to dance to.
I was shocked to learn of her passing, I have fond memories when me and my sisters(The Smith Sisters) performed at her wedding In Uncle Domonics in Perth WA. We returned to the UK in 1984 and often Christies name would come up in conversation. I would like to send my thoughts to her family, and feel honoured to have met God bless you Christiexxx
I Just watched a Classic Countdown episode from 1979,
and Christie Allen was hosting and singing, this braught back memories.
I was a happy & carefree 14 year old. I liked Christie's pop songs and the joy goosbumps gave me at the time.
I never heard of her passing until I did a internet search. Now I feel really sad.
thank you for the gift of music you left us.
I too, had all Christie's albums, played them over and over in my bedroom, sang goosebumps into my hairbrush, nagged mum stupid for the Christie perm, got some groovy photos to prove it, tried really hard to look like her, even had the shiny lycra stretch pants, NOT a good look, Thankyou Christie for the memories darling, you were my idol. God bless, and sincere sympathy to all you family, how lucky they were to be blessed with the gift of YOU.
I turn 43 nxt wk & ws thinking bout my teen yrs & the pop artists i jst simply loved to listen to on the radio & watch on Countdown. So i googled Leif Garett & then Christie Allen ... my heart just sunk & felt shattered as i ' just now ' found out that Christie had passed away. The year 2008 has been the most heartbreaking year of my life & to then read that Christie had passed.
I jst want to say THANKYOU to Christie for your music ... that you helped me escape the unhappy home i lived in and put me in a happy world listening to you singing.
You will for the rest of my life always be the HAPPY part of my teen years. What an impact YOU made in my life ... and i'm just ONE person !
