About

Biography

Steve Irwin was best known as “The Crocodile Man”.  He was a naturalist and conservationist from Australia who worked tirelessly to save the crocodile, and who achieved huge fame through his series “The Crocoldile Hunter”.  He appeared unconquerable and fearless in his documentaries that he co-hosted with his wife Teri.  He and his wife co-owned the Australia Zoo which was founded by Irwin’s parents.

He appeared in his television series regularly with his wife, and also appeared in a feature film The Crocodile Hunter: Collision Course.  He appeared regularly as a guest on television, and did voice work in the 2006 movie ‘Happy Feet”.  He established the Steve Irwin Conservation Foundation (later renamed to Wildlife Warriors Worldwide).

He died in a freak diving accident while filming a new documentary on the Great Barrier Reef.  Irwin swam too close to a Bull Ray and the barb of the animal went up and into his chest piercing his heart.  He died  almost immediately.

My Favorite Hero

Elizabeth Grace May 08, 2010

This guy is my hero. He is the reason for me wanting to become a consevationist and a zoologist. He has also lead my heart to saying "Move to Australia and work there"...well i am only 16 years old, and i miss my hero...A LOT! i wish he was still here to lead me on my journey, and to keep teaching me, as well as others, of the amazing animals that loved him to dearly. I miss you Steve, i will forever...RIP, see you up mate.

Bindi

Tayla Mar 14, 2010

The thing i remember most was Bindi's speech at the funeral. She said that if he was going out croc hunting he would come to her school pull her out of class and bring her too! She said all sorts of things like he is the best Dad ever and i will miss him each and every day, i was bawling my eyes out the whole time!
